Julianne Writes.. 03/19/09

Hey guys,
I just finished a show here at disney world for the childrens miracle network. it was such a cool experience to meet all the champion kids… makes you really appreciate what you have and what you can do to help raise awareness for them…

im just laying in bed with lexi, she is on my right arm asleep so it’s taking me forever to type cause im doing it with my left hand…lol anyways i’m just laying here thinking about how hard it’s gonna be to start teaching chuck our dance for next week tomorrow. we are so behind because we are both still touring. he is in new hampshire tonight i think…

i get on a flight at 5:50am to CT to meet him for his show. we should get a couple of hours of training in before he goes on… and then we both fly again the next morning at about 5am to Mississippi for a show i’m doing there… hopefully you guys will vote this week, i think we are really going to need it!!! lol

well im gonna go to bed so that i can get some good sleep in so that i can be my usual hard teaching julianne self that i am… i think i’ve been taking it easy on him without really noticing, so i really have to TRY to be hard on him ha ha wish me luck.. :)

by the way i have the funniest video of lexi tonight watching americas funniest home videos.. she literally couldn’t take her eyes off the tv… i’ll try and post it at some point this week… ha ha too dang cute!!!

all right, good night guys!

Julianne Hough: “Vote For My Brother Derek”

Catergories: [ Julianne Writes.. ]

Don’t be sad. Someone has to leave; too bad it was us, but it’s the name of the game. Cody and I hoped for the best and expected the worst. We definitely got the worst. We’re OK with it, though. He came to terms with it. He came such a long way since the beginning, and I’m so proud of him. When I first me him, I thought he was going to be this young, immature kid, but as I’ve gotten to know him, I’ve realized that he’s a deep, loving young man.

He’s going to have a lot of opportunities coming his way from doing this show, putting his heart on his sleeve, and trying so hard. I think he made a lot of new fans.

I feel like I’ve been awake since yesterday. I stayed up with Derek late last night; we were hanging out after the show and he asked if I wanted to help him out with some lifts he was practicing for Brooke. I said absolutely, anything I can do to help you win. I’m totally rooting for you.

I want everyone who voted for Cody and me – first, thank you very much – but start voting for Brooke and Derek!

I got up at 3:45 am to get ready for Good Morning America. Then I got home and did phoners with radio stations and now I’m doing this blog.

I want to thank all of you who have listened to my album, said such nice things about my songs, and waited patiently for last night’s performances of “My Hallelujah Song.” I was excited it finally ran. As I wrote a few weeks ago when that was taped, I’ve sung in front of thousands of people, but I don’t think I”ve ever been as nervous as when I performed on the show in front of my peers and the producers. It was fun but definitely nerve-wracking.

A lot of you have asked what’s next. Well, there’s one more week and because everyone is back for the finale, I figured I’d stay here in case my brother needs any more help. I’m presenting at the AMAs. I’m doing some last minute stuff. Then packing up my clothes and shipping everything back to my place in Nashville.

I’m spending Thanksgiving with my family in Las Vegas. I’m doing the run of Christmas shows. I have one in Washington, which I mentioned yesterday. Getting ready for next year. There are two really great tours coming up. I’m 99.9% sure I’ll be on one of them.

I won’t be on Dancing this spring season. I don’t know about the fall. Maybe, maybe not. We’ll see. I’m definitely going to focus on the music. My first album was a learning experience, and I can’t wait for the next one. I feel like the writing and producing will be even better, really awesome.

My prediction: I really hope Brooke and Derek win. I think they deserve to win. From day one, they’ve been awesome. I think Brooke is the most technically sound of the celebrities and she’s a beautiful dancer.

“I Have Endometriosis. I’d Still Like A Hough Vs. Hough Final”

Catergories: [ Julianne Writes..,News ]

Well, as of yesterday, the news is out there. Here’s the latest. Later today I’m meeting with my doctor, getting the rundown of the procedure. He’s going to go through everything about the surgery. I’m not worried. I’m feeling good.

Actually what happened is last week was more than just a tummy ache. Obviously. It turned out I ruptured a cyst that was on my ovary. I didn’t’ know but I have endometriosis. I’ve apparently had it for a long time because I’ve had this pain for about the last five years. It hasn’t been as bad. Up till last week, I let it go and I was always too busy to get it checked out. But because it happened when I was on set, they made me go to the doctor.

They want to clean out the cysts and take out my appendix, too, because later on it can be affected by the cysts. Endometriosis is a common thing for women. I was like “thanks mom for giving me my great life – and endometriosis.” I said that jokingly. My sister who has five children is going in for the same surgery in a couple weeks.

They’re doing it laparoscopically through my belly button so I won’t have a scar. My mom had it done a few years ago and she doesn’t have a scar. With my mom and my sister having endometriosis, you can see genetics plays a big part. I guess my brother Derek is the only sibling in the family who doesn’t have to worry about having his ovaries checked.

They say its three or four days of recovery. I’m thinking more like a week. Then I’ll be able to work with Cody. But I won’t be dancing for two weeks.

It’s kind of been a weird couple days for the Houghs. My dad was playing father-son lacrosse on Saturday and was running down the field, stubbed his toe, fell down, broke his collar bone in two places and separated his shoulder. He was going to be with me for my surgery but he’s going in for his own today. I want to say thanks to a Fancast user named Nana who wrote in with good wishes for my dad.

As for last night’s performance, I didn’t feel that great, obviously. I toughed my way through it. I guess I have a strong threshold for pain. I wanted to do my best for Cody. He’s awesome and he deserves to go all the way in the competition. I didn’t want my problems to get in his way. So I went out and did my best. I don’t think I put myself at any risk by dancing. My doctor’s wife was a jazz dancer, so he was familiar with dancer’s crazy determination to dance through pain. He said it was ok. I asked if I could do the surgery after the show was over, but he said that was too long. They wanted to do surgery last Friday, but I said I wanted to do the dance on Monday for Cody. Edyta will be great. She’s a great girl and a terrific dancer. I want people to still vote for Cody and know I’ll be back.

A few people have written in to this blog about wanting a Hough vs. Hough final, and I think that would be great fun. I hope it happens! Brooke has been a frontrunner from the beginning, and I think Cody has shown what this show is about. We’ll see.

I didn’t get Bruno at all last night. I was pissed at him. Think about it. That song was a strong sexy song, not the kind of song Bruno said it was. I think Carrie Ann was right. I think Cody has improved so much. I was really proud of him. But in the confessional, I had to watch what I said about the judges, well, what I said about Bruno.

All night long I got really nice, loving messages from all the dancers. Everyone has been very supportive.

As for the next week or so, my mom is going to take good care of me. She’s been with me for almost a month. Something seems to happen every week where I need her to stay. She’s been awesome.

Let me answer some of your questions and comments.

Debbie, you asked about releasing “Dreaming Under the Same Moon” as a single. It probably won’t come out as a single. Now that my brother has signed with Hollywood Records, I don’t know if that will be easy.

Janice, you’re right, it is the Ventura pier in my video. It was really cold that day. But it was so beautiful out there. That was a great video to make. I’m sorry you get homesick when seeing that.

And to Sammi and the rest of you who’ve sent in good wishes, especially the last couple days but also through the season, thank you for supporting me and thinking about me. It means a lot. I appreciate it.

I’ll try to blog again next week.

Talk to you later.

Julianne Hough’s New Video Premieres

Catergories: [ Julianne Writes..,Videos ]

“Hey Everyone,

Today is so exciting for me. My debut video for “That Song In My Head” is premiering here on CMT.com. The video was directed by the fabulous Trey Fanjoy out in Ventura Beach, Calif., (on a day off from Dancing With the Stars). It was absolutely freezing and really windy as I did those long walking scenes down the pier, and I had goosebumps all day! My family was there to support me and you can even see my brother Derek in the beach party scene. He was there taking pictures of the whole day and trying to tell Travis van Winkle, my love interest in the video, to watch out! Travis was so much fun to work with. Most recently he was in Meet the Spartans and Tranformers. I can’t express how excited I am about my music and I can’t wait to share it with you all. I’ll see you on the road soon enough! :)

Love,
Julianne Hough”
